The Memorandum of Understanding prepared between the TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute (KARE) and the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) to improve scientific cooperation in Antarctic research was signed online on August 15, 2022 by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL and Brazilian Minister of Industry, Technology and Innovation Paulo ALVIM.
The agreement paved the way for new research to be conducted by the two countries in Antarctica on many scientific issues, especially climate change and sustainability. In addition, the importance of the Antarctic Continent, where science and peace prevail in the world, was once again emphasized as the scientists of the two countries support each other in infrastructures and logistics in Antarctica.
