A National Workshop was held in Ankara on October 13-14, 2016 to discuss the monitoring guidelines developed under 11 topics and the strategy document on marine monitoring.
The Monitoring Guidelines and the Marine Monitoring Strategy Document, which were developed by academics and experts in the Aegean Sea and Mediterranean Regional Workshop held in Izmir on 9-11 December 2015, the Marmara Sea and Straits Regional Workshop held in Istanbul on 22-23 March 2016 and the Black Sea Regional Workshop held in Trabzon on 20-21 April 2016, were presented at the National Workshop.
The workshop started with the opening speeches of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haldun Karan, Deputy Director of TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute and Soner Olgun, Head of Laboratory Measurement and Monitoring Department, General Directorate of EIA Permit and Inspection, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. After Project Coordinator Ersan Kuzyaka shared the work carried out in the project and the project outputs with the participants, within the scope of the project, the Fisheries Guide created under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazlı Demirel, the Benthos Guide created under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ferah Koçak, the Marine Solid Wastes Guide created under the leadership of Dr. Olgaç Güven, the Marine Mammals Guide created under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Harun Güçlüsoy and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Dede, the Hydrographic Conditions Guide created under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Hüsne Altıok, the Hydrographic Conditions Guide created under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Filiz Küçüksezgin led by Prof. Dr. Filiz Küçüksezgin, Macroalgae Guide led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergün Taşkın, Microbial Pollutants Guide led by Prof. Dr. Gülşen Altuğ, Organic Pollutants Guide led by Prof. Dr. Fatma Telli Karakoç, Eutrophication Guide led by Prof. Dr. Dilek Ediger and Water Column Habitats Guide led by Prof. Dr. Muzzaffer Feyzioğlu were presented. Marine Mammals Guideline presentation was made by Dr. Gökhan Kaboğlu, Microbial Pollutants Guideline presentation was made by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nebil Yücel, Organic Pollutants Guideline presentation was made by Prof. Dr. Oya Okay and other guideline presentations were made by the guideline leaders. The evaluation of the survey to determine the expert and device infrastructures of the institutions conducted within the scope of the project was presented to the participants by Dr. Gökhan Kaboğlu from Dokuz Eylül University. The second day of the workshop continued with presentations by Dr. Elvan Atılgan from Trabzon Fisheries Central Research Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemal Can Bizsel from Dokuz Eylül University and Prof. Dr. Süleyman Tuğrul from Middle East Technical University. Finally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çolpan Beken from TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute presented the Marine Monitoring Strategy Document to the participants and the participants shared their contributions to the strategy document.
Within the scope of the project, guidelines under 11 headings were developed with the contributions of 109 academicians and experts working in different universities and institutions of our country. Academics and experts from 18 institutions and organizations participated in the National Workshop, where the final products of the Regional Workshops held in Izmir, Istanbul and Trabzon before the National Workshop were presented together and academics and experts discussed both the guidelines and the marine monitoring Strategy Document.
