The microplastics management workshop of the "Microplastics in Surface Waters, Their Effects and Control Methods Project (MPLAST)" supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry General Directorate of Water Management was held on June 14-16, 2022 at Izmir Ege University Faculty of Fisheries.

Opening speeches were made by Mr. Bilal DİKMEN, Director General of Water Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Assoc. Opening speeches were made by Bilal DİKMEN, Advisor to the President of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selma Ayaz and Ege University Faculty of Fisheries Dean Prof. Dr. Uğur Sunlu.

Within the scope of the workshop held with the participation of more than 70 experts from different public institutions and organizations and universities, presentations were made on the introduction of the project, the results of the project's work and the determination of microplastic control methods. Four working groups were formed under the headings of source reduction/plastic alternatives, legal/institutional regulations, microplastic management and public awareness raising, training activities and expert opinions were taken. The workshop program was successfully completed.
