"Microplastics in Surface Waters, Their Effects and Control Methods Project", which will be carried out by TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry General Directorate of Water Management, was signed by Bilal DİKMEN, General Director of Water Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Dr. Osman OKUR, President of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center on November 2, 2020.

The signing ceremony was attended by Ms. Dr. Selma AYAZ, Director of TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, and officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Dr. Selma AYAZ and officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry attended the signing ceremony.

With this Project, microplastic studies will be carried out in surface waters, rivers, transitional waters, seawater and sediments and biota macrostructures.

In addition, it is aimed to determine strategies for the development of control methods by revealing the effects of microplastics. In addition, the effects on the aquatic ecosystem will be investigated by taking into account the chemicals adsorbed on garbage, microplastics and microplastics.
