Detection of Hazardous Substances in Coastal and Transitional Waters of Turkey and Ecological Coastal Dynamics (KIYITEMA)" Project "Iskenderun Bay Pilot Region" Opening Meeting (February 12, 2013)

"Detection of Hazardous Substances in Coastal and Transitional Waters of Our Country and Ecological Coastal Dynamics (KIYITEMA)" supported by the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs General Directorate of Water Management and carried out by TÜBİTAK MAM Environment Institute "Iskenderun Bay Pilot Region Opening Meeting", which has been determined as one of the four pilot regions within the scope of the Project, was held on February 12, 2013 at "Iskenderun Municipality Meeting Hall (Iskenderun/HATAY)" between 9.30-11.30 am. A total of 62 people representing the relevant institutions, provincial directorates of the institutions, universities, NGOs and industrial organizations of the region participated in the meeting.

The meeting started with an opening speech by Mr. Dr. Yusuf H. Civelek, Mayor of Iskenderun Municipality. Dr. Yusuf H. Civelek, Mayor of Iskenderun Municipality, made an opening speech, followed by a speech by Mr. Yakup Karaaslan, Head of Water Management Department of the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs. Dr. Yakup Karaaslan, Head of Water Management Department of the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, explained the importance of the project, its scope, the requirements that led to the initiation of this project and the expected outputs. Afterwards, Project Manager Ms. Ms. Gülsen Avaz, Project Manager, made a presentation on the introduction of the project, the activities carried out / planned to be carried out so far and the support expected from the stakeholders within the scope of the project. Finally, a Q&A session was held with the participants, where questions about the project were answered and mutual contributions were evaluated.
