JICA and Embassy of Japan Visit TÜBİTAK MAM

A delegation from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Embassy of Japan visited TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) on March 23, 2023.

The meeting held within the scope of the visit was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, Vice President of TÜBİTAK and President of TÜBİTAK MAM, Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy, Vice President of Climate Change and Sustainability, Dr. Mert Akel, Vice President of Materials Technologies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şerife Sarıoğlan, Senior Researcher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şerife Sarıoğlan from the Chemical Process Technologies Research Group of the Vice Presidency of Energy Technologies, Senior Researcher Ezgi Bener, Senior Researcher Yusuf Kılıç and Senior Specialist Namık Serkan Taşkıran from the Strategy and Business Development Directorate.

Mr. Iwasa Takaaki, Diplomat in Charge of the Turkish-Japanese University of Science and Technology, Mr. Ueda Daisuke, Deputy Director General of the Human Development Department of JICA, Mr. Murata Takuya, Deputy Director of the Higher Education and Social Security Group of the Human Development Department of JICA and Ms. Zeynep Erzincanlıoğlu, Specialist in the Education Department of the Embassy of Japan participated in the event.

During the meeting, TÜBİTAK MAM presentation and JICA presentation were made. JICA's support for the establishment of the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University (TJU) and TJU's prioritized potential research areas;

1- Energy, natural resources and environment,

2- Information Science and Digital Technology Applications

3- "Disaster Management and Climate Change".

TÜBİTAK MAM President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil stated that TÜBİTAK has close relations with the Turkish-Japanese University of Science and Technology (TJU) and emphasized the opportunity for cooperation with joint projects that can benefit from the TÜBİTAK MAM infrastructure. He expressed that they expect TJU students and graduates to add value to TÜBİTAK MAM within the scope of research projects.

The National 1 MV Accelerated Mass Spectroscopy (AMS) Laboratory, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Laboratory, High Temperature Materials Research, Development and Repair Center of Excellence were visited to introduce the TÜBİTAK MAM infrastructure.
