As TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM), one of the leading institutions that will lead Turkey's National Technology Move and transformation with groundbreaking scientific breakthroughs, we signed projects to support the National Technology Move in 2022. With our research capability, capacity and infrastructure, we developed original solutions for our country to go one step further last year. We briefly touch upon the projects, collaborations and technology fairs we realized in 2022.

MMU SUBSYSTEM PROJECTS

MMU LSS - Life Support System Project; It is a system that provides oxygen separated from the engine discharge air as breathing air to the pilot instantaneously and at the right rate according to the physical conditions and protects the pilot from the Anti-G load on the pilot due to maneuvers.

MMU ExPS - Explosion Prevention System Project; It is a system that delivers pressurized Nitrogen separated from the engine discharge air to the fuel tanks depending on the altitude and ensures that the fuel tanks become inert. It reduces the risk of explosion caused by fuel vapor in the aircraft and prevents fuel boiling in the fuel tank.

MMU HAVSET - Development of a Low Visibility Set for the Air Duct Project; Electromagnetic design, optimization and model measurements are being carried out for the electromagnetic design, optimization and model measurements of the Set, which provides low visibility on radar by placing it in the Air Duct, for the "Radar Invisibility Feature" of the National Fighter Aircraft.

MMU FRESEÇ - Electromagnetic Modeling and Application of Frequency Selective Surfaces Providing Low Visibility; Electromagnetic modeling, design, analysis and optimization software is being developed for the electromagnetically modeled frequency selective surfaces to provide frequency selective RF permeability in radome structures in order to provide "Radar Invisibility" to the National Fighter Aircraft.

TUBITAK MAM WILL PRODUCE THE FIXED SOLAR PANELS TO BE USED IN AYAP-1

The design, development, testing and production of Space Qualified Solar Panels, which will meet the high reliability requirements of the Spacecraft being designed for the "Lunar Exploration Program-1" within the National Space Program prepared by the Turkish Space Agency (TUA), will be carried out by the Photovoltaic Technologies Research Team of TÜBİTAK MAM, Materials Technologies Vice Presidency.

TURKEY'S FIRST DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL SPACE-QUALIFIED SOLAR PANEL READY FOR DUTY

The Space Qualified Solar Panel flight model produced for the İMECE Satellite by the Photovoltaic Technologies Research Team of the TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Technologies Vice Presidency successfully completed the ground level acceptance tests in accordance with international standards and was delivered. With the infrastructure established and the know-how acquired, the production of Space Qualified Solar Panels in international standards with domestic and national facilities for the first time in our country was completed, the ground level acceptance tests were successfully passed and the delivery was realized.

MANY COLLABORATIONS WERE REALIZED DURING THE YEAR

Throughout 2022, TÜBİTAK MAM signed many important collaborations, goodwill agreements and protocols.

Many achievements such as "Energetic Materials Subject to Missile Technologies Control Regime" with TÜBİTAK MAM-ASSAN GROUP, "Protocol for the Production of 3D Carbon/Silicon Carbide Composite Nozzle" with TÜBİTAK MAM, DELTA V AŞ, 3D WOVEN A.Ş.

TÜBİTAK MAM also signed another contract for the Phase-2 (POWDER) phase of the Aviation Engine Materials Development Program. As a continuation of the Phase-1 (CEVHER) Project, which was launched in 2020, the project will develop aviation gas turbine engine materials, which are currently supplied from abroad, and develop turbine disk production processes with powder technology.

OUR CBRN TECHNOLOGIES USED IN INTERNATIONAL EVENTS

Mehmetçik used the Chemical Warfare Substances Detection Device developed locally and indigenously by TÜBİTAK MAM for a possible chemical threat during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

TEİAŞ ELECTRIC POWER QUALITY AND NETWORK MONITORING SYSTEM DEVICE PROJECT

With the aim of monitoring Turkey's electric energy, we started the TEİAŞ Electricity Power Quality and Grid Monitoring System Device Project, which will simultaneously record the energy quality of approximately 20,000 measurement points with software and hardware capabilities and send them to the central monitoring system in order to monitor the Electricity Transmission System in a holistic structure.

TÜBİTAK MAM WIND BLOWS AT FIELD EXPO 2022

TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) participated in the third SAHA EXPO Defence, Aerospace and Space Industry Fair in 2022. 250 foreign and 750 domestic companies from 57 countries came together at the fair, where domestic and foreign products were introduced.

In the organization, which brought together manufacturers, suppliers and companies producing for the defence, air, naval and space industries, our national technologies and R&D competencies were introduced. In addition, B2B meetings were held. TÜBİTAK MAM introduced its Chemical Warfare Substances Detection System in Drinking Water, Chemical Warfare Substances Detection Device (MAM-CDET), Fuel Cell Charging System, Carbon Dioxide (Co2) Holder Calipatron, Plastic Bound Explosives, Open Porous and Lightweight Metal Structures Metal Foam - Honeycomb - Lattice, High Temperature Carbon Composite Material, Crystal Turbine Blade and Space Qualified Solar Panel products. The products attracted great interest from the visitors.

INTEGRATED SONAR SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The new Sonar Project, which is being developed by TÜBİTAK MAM, will strengthen Turkey's hand in protecting the Blue Homeland against threats on the high seas with its enhanced target detection and localization features. The Sonar System, which will be developed within the scope of this project carried out with the Ministry of National Defense, will be integrated into military ships.

With the project, for which prototype production has begun, Turkey will be one of the few countries with this technology. The Integrated Sonar System will make a significant contribution to the economy as well as national security. The export of the system to friendly and allied countries will bring Turkey a great competitive advantage.

Minister Varank visited TÜBİTAK MAM in Gebze, Kocaeli, where the sonar was developed, and said: "This New National Sonar will be used in the TF-2000 Air Defense Warfare Destroyer, which will be built in the same way as the first National Sonar Project developed for Turkey's MİLGEM Ship. This Sonar will also be used on Turkey's first Air Defense Ship and will provide Turkey with very serious capabilities."
