Human Resources Workshop Organized at SSM

As part of its 2014 activities, the Defence Industry Manufacturers Association (SASAD) organized a workshop on "How can we increase highly qualified human resources in the field of defence, aerospace and space?" in cooperation with METU Teknokent on December 16.

The workshop, which was held at the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) and attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Makaracı, Vice President of Strategy and Technology Development, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hatice Karahan, Consultant, on behalf of TÜBİTAK MAM, was attended by various institutions working on defence industry technology.

The event started with opening speeches by Dr. Ata Şenlikçi, Head of the R&D Department at SSM, and Muharrem Dörtkaşlı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SASAD, and continued with a presentation on "HR Management Projections in the Defence Industries" by Dr. Roger L. Darby from Cranfield Defence and Security.

After the speeches, the participants, in the presence of the participants, made evaluations throughout the day within the framework of the following main themes.

  • Quality of Human Resources
  • Accessibility to Qualified Human Resources
  • Continuity of Qualified Human Resources

Among the issues raised at the workshop were the development of technical skills in higher education, encouraging postgraduate education, human resources planning in institutions, and increasing employee performance and loyalty.
