BIOMASUD PLUS "Developing a Solid Biofuel Market for Residential Solid Biofuels for Mediterranean Countries" Project Workshop was held on October 5, 2017 at Anadolu Hotels Downtown Söğütözü.

BIOMASUD PLUS "Development of a Solid Biofuel Market Specific to Mediterranean Countries for Residential Solid Biofuels" Project Workshop was organized in Ankara on October 5, 2017 in cooperation with TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center Energy Institute and Clean Energy Foundation (TEMEV).
Representatives from public institutions, private sector, chambers and unions, associations, universities and many other institutions participated in the workshop, where the "Biomass Sector" in Turkey was analyzed and opinions were exchanged with the participation of representatives of public, private sector and non-governmental organizations regarding the labeling and certification of 'pellets' for the healthy development of the Biomass Sector.

The Workshop started with the opening speeches by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Balıkçı, Director of TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute, M. Tülin Keskin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Clean Energy Foundation and Dr. Bülent Sönmez, Head of the Soil-Water Resources Research Department of the General Directorate of Agricultural Research (TAGEM), Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, and continued with presentations under the themes of "Biomass Resources, Supports, Legislation, Supply Chain, Experiences and the Situation in the EU". The presentations were made by ITU Faculty Member and President of SÜT-D Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute Expert Researcher and BIOMASUD PLUS Project Deputy Executive Director Mahmut Ateş, Black Sea Agricultural Research Institute Energy Crops Department Head Mustafa Acar, Bartın University Faculty of Forestry, Forest Eng. Prof. Dr. Nedim Saraçoğlu, TKDK Project Management Coordinator Türker Tunga Çağırıcı, TSE Senior Chemist Keziban Aydeniz ULU, OSTİM Renewable Energy and Clean Technologies Cluster President Yaşar Çelik, Atıken Biomass Energy General Manager Emre Ergun, Maxpel Pellet General Manager Güven Adıyaman and 3AR Energy & Chemistry General Manager Dr. F. Figen Ar.

In the interactive part of the workshop, group work was carried out with the participation of all representatives to discuss the questions "What should be done for the development of the biomass sector?", "How should labeling and standardization be?" and "What kind of path should be followed in the development, manufacturing and dissemination of biomass technologies?".
After the completion of the group work, participants on behalf of each group made a presentation of the work and shared their views and opinions.
