BIG WORKSHOP BETWEEN TUBITAK and MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY!

On 17 December 2022, a "Cooperation Development Workshop" was held between the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MoAF) at TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus.

The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK; Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, Vice President of TÜBİTAK and President of TÜBİTAK MAM; Dr. Metin Türker, Director General of Agricultural Research and Policies; Assoc. Dr. Bülent Selek, Deputy Director General of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ); executives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry; and senior managers and researchers from TÜBİTAK MAM, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and TÜBİTAK UME.

The Workshop started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, Vice President of TÜBİTAK and President of TÜBİTAK MAM, followed by the speech of Dr. Metin Türker, Director General of TAGEM, and the presentation of Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal gave information on priority and innovative topics, emphasized the importance of agriculture against drought and innovative biological methods and wished success to the Workshop.

Presentations on TÜBİTAK strategy, experience, competencies and project proposals were made by TÜBİTAK MAM, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, TÜBİTAK UZAY, TÜBİTAK UME and TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE.

Following the opening speeches and presentations, thematic sessions were held in 6 different halls, where discussions were held on project ideas, R&D studies and common visions that will increase cooperation between TÜBİTAK and TOB.

Smart applications in ensuring food supply security, early warning systems, traceability in food with block chain technologies, the use of satellite and iha/drone imaging systems in agriculture, functional foods, plant protection products, analysis systems for food analysis, reference materials, qualification test materials, effective fertilizer and soil use, energy, traceability in agriculture, as well as climate change and sustainability; Efficient use and traceability of water resources, early warning systems for the protection of water resources, development of a system for detecting and diagnosing pollutants that may enter drinking water, short- and long-term forecasting of water resources and optimum operation of dams, flood forecasting and early warning systems, monitoring of water quality by remote sensing, reducing the impact of climate change on water resources, The current seismicity of the immediate surroundings of the dam sites, spatial determination of greenhouse gas emissions and sinks for sustainable food supply security, monitoring of the passage of marine resources and pollutants affecting resources, determination of the effects of air quality on agricultural production were evaluated by the experts of both Institutions and areas of joint work were discussed.

Following the sessions, the Workshop was successfully concluded with closing evaluations and a group photo session.
