'Expert Workshop on Sustainable Urban Water Management and Water Sensitive Cities'

The "Higher Education Excellence in Development Cooperation -EXCEED II" project, which is being carried out at the Institute of Environment and Cleaner Production, is carried out within the scope of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) program with the participation of 29 full member institutions from 15 countries. In accordance with the project activities and work plan, the "Expert Workshop on Sustainable Urban Water Management and Water Sensitive Cities" was held between 06-10 September 2015, followed by a regional meeting attended by project partners from MENA (Middle East & North Africa) countries. The aim of the workshop was to share knowledge and experience among partners in the field of sustainable urban water management and 'water sensitive cities' and to discuss the main challenges.

Dr. Selma AYAZ, Acting Director of ÇTÜE and Dr. Burcu KIRAN, Expert Researcher attended the workshop and Dr. Selma AYAZ made a presentation on "Preparation of Basin Protection Action Plans". With the participation of our Institute in the workshop, the studies and experiences on urban water management and watershed management were shared and the possibilities of developing other research projects in this framework were explored. By participating in the workshop as planned in the project, contribution was made to the development of sustainable water management methodology for large cities-metropolises and water-sensitive cities.
