TÜBİTAK MAM The "EU Horizon 2020 Program Training and Information Day" program organized by the Vice Presidency of Strategy and Technology Development (BYST) was held on 18 September 2014 at the Conference Hall of the Presidency with the participation of managers and researchers from MAM Institutes.
The program started with the opening speech of MAM Head of Center Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahadır TUNABOYLU and presentations were made by Hakan KARATAŞ, Head of TÜBİTAK International Cooperation Department and his team.

The program concluded with the general evaluations of BYST Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat MAKARACI on participation in specific call topics.
Summary information about the program:
As a continuation of the 7th Framework Program, the European Union's (EU) new period Research and Innovation Framework Program Horizon 2020 will be implemented between 2014 and 2020.
The programme will support international research and innovation activities in cooperation with industrial enterprises, SMEs, scientists, public institutions and non-governmental organizations. In addition, the European Commission will also support individual research and innovation projects.
Horizon 2020 is the most comprehensive cooperation instrument under Chapter 25 on Science and Research, the only chapter that Turkey has been able to close so far in the EU accession negotiations, and is of great importance for Turkey.
Horizon 2020 Program, with a budget of 80 Billion Euros;

- It is designed to serve the goals of finding solutions to the global problems (energy, security, health, etc.) that all humanity is facing.
Within the scope of the inaugural event held in Istanbul, the Program was participated with the International Treaty signed on 4 June 2014.
Under the Horizon 2020 Program, the 2014-2015 calls with a budget of EUR 15 billion were opened on 11 December 2013.

It is planned to support projects in the fields of information communication technologies; nanotechnology; biotechnology; advanced manufacturing technologies; robotics and space technologies; health; agriculture and food; maritime and bio-economy; energy; transportation; climate, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials; social sciences and security, as well as European Research Council (ERC) and Marie Sklodowska Curie programs.
The Horizon 2020 National Coordination Office (NCO), which operates within TÜBİTAK, provides support to researchers and business representatives in project preparation, submission, legal and financial issues, as well as leading the way in finding partners and coordinators.
A new support and incentive mechanism has also been established to provide financial support to our researchers in all these processes. With this mechanism, travel, organization, project writing and pre-evaluation services will be provided to our researchers. In addition, our researchers who achieve success in the Horizon 2020 Program will be given success incentive awards in proportion to their roles in the project and their budgets.
