"Establishment of a Reliable Halal Food Conformity Assessment System" Project Meeting in Cooperation with TUBITAK and TSE

TÜBİTAK MAM President Dr. Orkun Hasekioğlu, TSE President Sebahittin Korkmaz, as well as officials and researchers attended the event on 29 September 2017 at TÜBİTAK MAM Gebze campus.

The meeting was held on 29 September 2017 at TÜBİTAK MAM Gebze campus with the participation of Dr. Orkun Hasekioğlu, President of TÜBİTAK MAM, Sebahittin Korkmaz, President of TSE, officials and researchers from TÜBİTAK MAM and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM.

After TSE President Sebahittin Korkmaz gave brief information about TSE, TÜBİTAK MAM President Dr. Orkun Hasekioğlu gave information about TÜBİTAK and TÜBİTAK MAM Institutes. Project coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Canan Doğan made a presentation about the project details.

Under the leadership of TÜBİTAK MAM Food Institute, in partnership with TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute, TÜBİTAK MAM Gene Engineering and Biotechnology Institute and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM National Electronics and Cryptology Research Institute, the project aims to develop innovative products and technologies necessary for halal conformity assessment based on scientific data and to establish a halal criteria conformity assessment system that ensures standardization in testing, supervision and inspection services.

Within the scope of the project; in line with the needs of TSE, a national observation network will be established by developing devices, kits, databases, edible markers, additive production processes, reference materials to be used in surveillance and inspection services in halal food certifications. It is aimed to disseminate the outputs to be developed primarily in our country through TSE and then in all Islamic countries through SMIIC.
