'Domestic Electric Locomotive' developed by TÜBİTAK MAM Successfully Passed All Tests

The on-site inspection and final report meeting of the "Development of E1000 Type Electric Locomotive" project, in which the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, General Directorate of State Railways Operation is the Client Institution, TÜLOMSAŞ General Directorate is the manager and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center Energy Institute is the executor, was held at Eskişehir TÜLOMSAŞ facilities on February 26, 2016.

The meeting was attended by Ömer Yıldız, General Manager of State Railways Administration (DDYİ), Hayri Avcı, General Manager of TÜLOMSAŞ, Ali Tavlı, Vice President of TÜBİTAK MAM, Mustafa Ay, Secretary of TÜBİTAK KAMAG Group Executive Committee, Deputy General Managers of DDYİ, Heads of Departments and relevant technical personnel, project personnel and project audience.

E1000 Tests Passed Successfully

In the test drive, the locomotive with a 1000-ton train weight was tested on a slope-free road. During the test, the knee deceleration and anti-skidding systems were successfully tested during take-offs and stops, and the performance target of 65 km/h with a load of 1000 tons was achieved. In November 2015, in the inclined road tests carried out at Bilecik ramps, the locomotive, which underwent stop-start tests with 520 tons of load on %2,8 inclination and regenerative landing and stopping tests with 520 tons, passed all tests successfully.

What is E1000?

With the E1000 Project, which is the most powerful vehicle produced domestically in Turkey with its traction and control systems, the development and prototype production of a 1 MW electric locomotive with a modern AC drive system was carried out to meet the maneuvering and short-distance freight transportation needs of TCDD.

Rail vehicle driving and control systems such as traction converters, traction control units and central control units, which are among the components with the highest added value in the rail vehicle sector and which only developed countries in the world have, were designed and produced domestically.

With the project, the locomotive, which is supplied from abroad and covers approximately half of the locomotive cost;

Subsystem components such as locomotive control and monitoring desk software were completely designed and manufactured domestically.

Two More Locomotives to be Built in the First 28 Months

Toplam yerlilik oranının %90’ın üzerinde olduğu Proje’nin sonuç raporunun kabulü ile birlikte Proje Sonuçları Uygulama Planı başlayacak ve üretimi yapılan prototip lokomotif TCDD Genel Müdürlüğü’ne teslim edilecek. Proje Sonuçları Uygulama Planı kapsamında TCDD’nin hizmetine verilmek üzere, ilk 28 ay içinde iki lokomotif daha TÜLOMSAŞ ve MAM Enerji Enstitüsü tarafından üretilecek.
