Within the scope of the contract signed between TÜBİTAK MAM and ASELSAN A.Ş., the development, production, test-characterization and acceptance activities of the hull-mounted sonar marine unit for the MİLGEM 5th Ship were successfully completed by the Advanced Acoustic Technologies Group of TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute. The developed Sonar Marine Unit was delivered to the Istanbul Shipyard Command of the TNFC in September to be integrated into the ship.
TÜBİTAK MAM The Underwater Acoustic Laboratory (SAL), one of the important infrastructures within the Advanced Acoustic Technologies Project Group of the Institute of Materials, is the first and only accredited public R&D laboratory in Turkey, established in TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus within the scope of the development of the Sonar Naval Units of the MİLGEM 1st Ship. Since its establishment, SAL has been playing an important role in the development of critical technologies for the needs of surface and underwater platforms in the field of underwater acoustics of the TNFC. With the knowledge, experience and manpower it has gained in this context, it produces solutions for the acoustic systems of our country's surface and underwater platforms and provides services for the test, calibration and measurement needs of industrial organizations operating in this field.
