Pursuant to the decision no. 2005/9 taken at the 11th Science and Technology High Council (BTYK) meeting held on March 10, 2005, the "National Space Research Program" was adopted with a 10-year Action Plan and entered into force by being published as an annex to the Prime Ministry Circular. In the past ten years, within the scope of this roadmap, important work has been carried out in the field of space technologies in Turkey, and BİLSAT, RASAT and GÖKTÜRK-2 earth observation satellites have been developed and successfully placed into the earth orbit with the contributions of TÜBİTAK Space Institute and the domestic industry.
With each satellite developed in this process, our country has made significant progress in infrastructure and know-how in the field of small satellite design and production, and many critical systems and subsystems used in space technology have been nationalized. At the meeting where the roles of the TÜBİTAK MAM Materials and Energy Institutes in the nationalization of these subsystems were evaluated, it was decided to work in coordination in satellite studies.
