Conformity Assessment Services Investment Plan Meeting was organized by the General Directorate of Industry of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology on September 14, 2014. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat MAKARACI, Vice President of Strategy and Technology Development, Prof. Dr. Ülker BEKER, Director of Chemical Technology Institute and Prof. Dr. Şaban TEKİN, Director of Gene Engineering and Biotechnology Institute attended the meeting on behalf of MAM. Conformity assessment is a multifaceted sector consisting of testing, inspection and certification. The global market of the sector is approximately 140 billion dollars. The size of the conformity assessment sector of our country in this direction is 1.5 billion dollars and our installed capacity does not have a sufficient share in the world market. It is of great importance to ensure the development of our country in this field on a sectoral basis. In this direction, there are a number of actions under the responsibility of the MoSIT in the Tenth Development Plan, Chemical Sector, Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Sector Strategy Documents and National Science Technology and Innovation Strategy Documents regarding the development of conformity assessment. For this purpose, the "1st National Test and Inspection Workshop" was held on June 12-13, 2014 in order to identify the strong and deficient areas of our country, to determine the needs of our industrialists and to establish the necessary incentives and implementation mechanisms for the related investment areas. In the workshop, studies were carried out in 14 different fields within the Machinery, White Goods and Small Household Appliances, Rubber and Plastics, Pharmaceuticals, Chemistry, Medical Devices, Environment, Heating, Cooling, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems, Informatics, Electrical-Electronics, Metal-Materials, Building Materials, Textile, Defense sectors. In this context, evaluations were made including the studies on the subject and the evaluation of the test and inspection services received from abroad in order to bring them to our country and the determination of the areas that are deemed possible to be realized by you in the coming period with some investments or in the coming period from the test and inspection services that cannot be realized in our country within the report. Following the data collection activities, a second workshop was organized and efforts were initiated to announce the results of the analysis on the web portal for the use of the public and private sector.
