A project closing meeting was held on April 18, 2018 in Ankara/Söğütözü "Wyndham Hotel" within the scope of the "Treatment and Disposal of Wastewater from Health Institutions Project" initiated on October 10, 2015 with the contract signed between the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM).

Provincial Directorates of Environment and Urbanization, General Directorates of Water and Sewerage Administration, Ministry of Health, Public Hospitals Authority of Turkey, Public Health Institution of Turkey, Device representatives, Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Specialty Association of Turkey (EKMUD) and some hospital representatives across Turkey attended the meeting.

The meeting started with opening speeches by Dr. Selma Ayaz, Director of TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute and Recep Akdeniz, Deputy Director General of Environmental Management. The studies carried out within the scope of the project and the project outputs were explained by Dr. Selda Murat Hocaoğlu, TÜBİTAK MAM Project Coordinator. In the discussion section that followed, the opinions of the participants were taken within the scope of the Handbook on Wastewater/Liquid Waste Management in Healthcare Organizations, which was prepared within the scope of the project and which serves as a guideline for the management of wastewater/liquid wastes generated in healthcare organizations. It was stated by various participants operating in the sector that all aspects of the subject were evaluated in detail in the prepared handbook, that this handbook will make a great contribution to the management of wastewater/liquid wastes generated in the health sector and that there is no similar study, and all project outputs were appreciated.
