TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences Accelerated Mass Spectroscopy Laboratory started age determination tests with Carbon 14.
As it is known, a national laboratory has been established at TUBITAK Marmara Research Center - Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences to carry out studies on age determination with Carbon-14. Thanks to this infrastructure, which is a first for our country and our region, these analyzes, which are needed in archaeology, earth and environmental sciences and which have been dependent on foreign laboratories until today, will become possible in our country.
In the laboratories supported by the Ministry of Development, which include Accelerated Mass Spectrometry (AMS), the most sensitive analysis system available in the world for Carbon-14 age determination, chemical process protocols, graphite preparation units, services will be provided to the researchers of our country, and at the same time, the scientific infrastructure of our country will be brought to the international level by responding to the demands from abroad.
