TÜBİTAK MAM "Determination of Water Pollution Resulting from the Use of Plant Protection Products and Determination of Environmental Quality Standards on Substance or Substance Group Basis Project (BİKOP)", which is a project to determine the levels of plant protection products (pesticides) used in agricultural production in water resources and to determine receiving environment quality standards for these substances, carried out by the Institute of Environment and Cleaner Production The Closing Meeting was held with a workshop in Şanlıurfa on 26-27 February 2015.
The meeting, which was held with the participation of representatives of our Institute and the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs General Directorate of Water Management, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock General Directorate of Food and Control, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, professional organizations, universities and various non-governmental organizations, started with the opening speeches of Prof. Dr. Cumali KINACI, General Director of Water Management, Numan Doğan GÜNDÜZ, 15th Regional Director of DSI and Dr. Selma AYAZ, Deputy Director of TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute.
Following the speeches in which the works carried out within the scope of the project and the importance of these works for our country were emphasized, a presentation on plant protection products and their use in our country was made by Hasan Yılmaz DURSUN, Branch Manager from the General Directorate of Food and Control of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. The program continued with a detailed presentation on the concept of hazardous substances, their effects on health and environment and their management in water resources by Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, Deputy Director General of Water Management.
Afterwards, a detailed presentation about the project was made by Dr. Oltan CANLI, the project coordinator from TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute. After the presentation, questions of the participants were taken and information was shared.
In the continuation of the meeting, Ömer Faruk ÇİFTBUDAK, Deputy Project Coordinator, and Dr. Merve BAŞAR from the project team shared the results of the inventory and monitoring studies carried out within the scope of the project and the prioritization of pesticide active substances with the participants respectively. The first day program was completed with a presentation on Determination of Environmental Quality Standards for pesticides under the Water Framework Directive.
In the first presentation of the second day of the workshop, PROLİNE A.Ş. gave information about the "Hazardous Substance Information System" developed to display the project outputs on a WEB-based geographical information system application and running on the servers of the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs. Then, on behalf of the General Directorate of Water Management, a presentation on the road map for the implementation of the project outputs was made and the responsibilities of institutions and organizations regarding the implementation and the implementation steps were summarized.
After receiving the opinions and suggestions of the participants, the workshop program was completed with the closing speech of Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, Deputy Director General of Water Management, emphasizing the importance of the project for our country.
