TÜBİTAK MAM and HAVELSAN Evaluated Strategic Cooperation Areas

During the program, potential areas of cooperation between TÜBİTAK MAM and HAVELSAN were comprehensively evaluated on the basis of their advanced research infrastructures and areas of expertise. The parties discussed cooperation opportunities to develop joint projects and strengthen existing technological competencies.

TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) hosted the delegation of HAVELSAN Hava Elektronik Sanayii ve Ticaret A.Ş. at its Gebze campus in order to evaluate cooperation opportunities in areas of critical importance in the defense industry and to introduce the research infrastructures within the center.

The program started with mutual acquaintance and briefing about the flow of the day. Following the introductory meeting, detailed assessments were made on the critical areas identified and road maps were created to concretize cooperation opportunities. In addition, technical information sharing and project development processes were exchanged between the expert teams of both organizations.

Following the meeting, HAVELSAN delegation visited the advanced research and testing infrastructures of TÜBİTAK MAM. The Biological and Chemical National Test Center (BKTM) was visited first, followed by the High Temperature Materials Research, Development and Repair Center of Excellence, Chemistry Flexible Pilot Plant and Piezoelectric Laboratory.

At the general evaluation meeting held at the end of the program, opinions were exchanged on potential areas of cooperation in the light of the observations made during the day and it was agreed to continue future contacts.

The TÜBİTAK MAM delegation consisted of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgen ERCAN, Vice President of Climate and Life Sciences; Dr. Ersin ÜRESİN, Vice President of Materials and Process Technologies; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abit BALIN, Strategy and Project Management Director; Dr. Samet Feyyaz HAMAMCI, Strategy and Business Development Manager; and expert researchers from research groups and related units. The HAVELSAN delegation was led by Abdullah Kurtuluş YORULMAZ, Director of Land and Joint C4ISR, and included relevant engineers and managers.

With its qualified human resources, interdisciplinary working structure and advanced research infrastructure, TÜBİTAK MAM continues to contribute to the scientific and technological development of our country and to establish strong collaborations with strategic institutions. It is foreseen that the mutual meetings held during the visit will contribute to deepening the common understanding and cooperation opportunities between the institutions and will form a solid basis for the work to be carried out together in the coming period.
