The Space Qualified Material Technologies Symposium was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, TÜBİTAK and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Centre on 14-15 December 2015 at Harbiye Military Museum and Cultural Site Command.

The opening speeches of the Symposium were delivered by Air Pilot Major General Şaban Umut, Deputy Undersecretary for Technology and Coordination at the Ministry of National Defence, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahadır Tunaboylu, President of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Centre. The needs for the development of space-qualified satellite subsystem technologies were identified, short and long-term targets were set, and government incentives and plans in this field were shared.

Within the scope of the symposium, İMECE Subsystem Projects for the Development of Earth Observation Satellite Technologies, which are being carried out under the coordination of the R&D and Technology Department of the Ministry of National Defense and supported by the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and TÜBİTAK, were introduced, and the Protocol/Contract signing ceremony of the Solar Panel, Solar Cell and Lithium Ion Battery Development Subsystem Projects within the scope of the project was held.
