TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (TÜBİTAK MAM), which has achieved many firsts in the field of science and technology in Turkey, has been working as the best example of university, industry and state cooperation since its establishment in 1972. Today, TÜBİTAK MAM includes the Institutes of Environment and Clean Production, Energy, Gene Engineering and Biotechnology, Food, Materials, Chemical Technology, Earth and Marine Sciences. The Center's goal is to become a world leader in science and technology production and to produce sustainable scientific and technological solutions for our country by using its research, development and innovation competencies. TÜBİTAK MAM provides services to industrial organizations, universities and public institutions with its manpower, laboratories, tools, equipment and communication systems formed by its valuable scientists.

These services are carried out in the form of Industrial Projects (product, process development, cost reduction, efficiency improvement) or Industrial Services (testing, analysis, measurement). Around 50 thousand analyzes are conducted annually.

Customer satisfaction surveys are conducted for the industrial services offered by the Center and corrective actions are taken in the areas required by customers.

The center will carry out age determination tests with Carbon 14, which is planned to be carried out for the first time in our country in 2016. The laboratory, where radiocarbon dating will be performed on charred plants, trees, bones and other samples, will be fully equipped. In 2016, the facility, which is planned to start trials in the fall of 2015, is planned to serve Turkey, the Middle East and the Balkans.

The working areas of the institutes operating within TÜBİTAK MAM, which has ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 certificates, are as follows:

INSTITUTE OF ENVIRONMENT AND CLEAN PRODUCTION

It conducts drinking water, wastewater, solid and hazardous waste dioxin/furan, pesticide analyzes, air pollution and marine pollution measurements. Within the scope of the Regulation on the General Principles of Waste Management, EK3B analyzes are carried out only in this institute in Turkey.

ENERGY INSTITUTE

Solid (coal, biomass analysis) and liquid fuel (diesel, gasoline, heating oil, jet fuel, marine fuel, biodiesel, gas oil, base oil, etc.), natural gas, LPG analysis, battery, vehicle tests and smuggling fuel analysis are carried out.

INSTITUTE OF GENE ENGINEERING AND BIOTECHNOLOGY

Experimental animal sales (mice, rats), biocompatibility tests of medical devices, chemicals and cosmetics tests, DNA and RNA studies, protein, next generation sequencing (Exzome, Genome), gene transfer to plants, etc.

FOOD INSTITUTE

Food products are analyzed for nutrients, tea/coffee, honey, meat and aquatic products, fruit juice, canned food, jam, milk and dairy products, hormones, food dyes, cereals, sugar, fat and microbiological analysis. The Food Pilot Facility is open to industrialists for pilot-scale production trials.

INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY

Wet chemical, grain size and surface area measurements, cleaning products, alcohol analysis, composition content tests, mineral oil analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) tests are carried out. The Chemistry Pilot Plant is open to industrialists for pilot-scale production trials.

INSTITUTE OF MATERIALS

Qualitative and quantitative analysis with X-rays, damage detection studies, coating and corrosion tests, electron microscope analysis (SEM, TEM), ultrasographic examinations, mechanical tests (tensile, compression, impact), flammability test, air conditioning, ozone test, surface area and grain size measurements are carried out.

INSTITUTE OF EARTH AND MARINE SCIENCES

Gravity measurements, seismic reflection data collection and evaluation, GPS position determination measurements are carried out. In 2016, Carbon 14 age determination tests will be carried out for the first time in Turkey.
