In 2019, with the establishment of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey Marmara Research Center Polar Research Institute (TÜBİTAK MAM KARE), a scientific organization structure that will serve as an institutional roof in our country was put into practice. The 4th National Polar Science Workshop will be held on October 22nd and the Polar Science Festival will be held on October 22nd - 23rd at TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus under the organization of the Polar Research Institute, which undertakes the task of carrying out many research and studies from the implementation of the 2018 - 2022 National Polar Science Program to the execution of Scientific Polar Expeditions.
Under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the "National Polar Science Program 2018 - 2022" was published in December 2017 and entered into force. Within the scope of the program, the "National Polar Science Workshop" is organized every year, where the results of scientific projects and studies and scientific expeditions carried out by Turkish scientists in the polar area are evaluated and developments in priority areas are discussed. Accordingly, the First and Second National Polar Sciences Workshops were hosted by Istanbul Technical University on April 12 - 13, 2017 and September 12 - 13, 2018. The Third National Workshop on Polar Sciences was hosted by Middle East Technical University on September 5 - 6, 2019.
