In line with one of the main missions of the Sabri Ülker Food Research Foundation, which is to support research and education programs, the "3rd Nutrition and Healthy Living Summit" was held at the Raffles Hotel in Istanbul on May 7, 2015.
The 2nd Sabri Ülker Science Prize, which is open to international participation for the first time this year, is evaluated based on the criteria of being completed and applicable, encouraging nutrition and healthy lifestyles of the society, and determining the subject of research as food, nutrition and health. The Sabri Ülker Science Award was presented to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cesarettin Alaşalvar and his teammates (Prof. Dr. Asım Örem - ITU Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Ayşe Karadağ, Ebru Pelvan and Ferruh Naki Adoğlu) for their project titled "Development of Functional Instant Tea and Determination of its Effects on Health" conducted at the TÜBİTAK MAM Food Institute. This project, which produced a cholesterol-lowering and heart-friendly tea product using plant sterols for the first time in the world, was awarded 100,000 TL. The award was presented by Mehmet Müezzinoğlu, Minister of Health; Oltan Sungurlu, Former Minister of Justice and President of the Sabri Ülker Food Research Foundation; and Ali Ülker, Vice Chairman of Yıldız Holding.
The 3rd Nutrition and Healthy Living Summit hosted many scientists, including Prof. Walter Willett, Head of the Department of Nutrition at Harvard University, and Prof. Gökhan Hotamışlığil.
