Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology The project titled "Technology Needs Assessment and Determination of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Potential in Industry within the Scope of Climate Change", carried out by the Institute of Environment and Cleaner Production on behalf of our institution and supported by the Ministry of Development, was launched on March 16, 2012. With this project, it is aimed to determine to what extent, how and at what cost greenhouse gas emissions from our industry can be reduced depending on technology in the context of national and international climate change activities and developments, and to develop a suitable method that can be applied in all industrial sectors. The project also aims to support the protection and development of the competitiveness of our industry in line with changing market and production conditions, to ensure technological change, to switch to climate-friendly production and to raise awareness in the industrial sector on this issue.

Proje kapsamında, Türkiye’nin ulusal öncelikleri doğrultusunda ve sanayi kaynaklı sera gazı emisyonlarının en az %75’ini kapsayacak şekilde belirlenen çimento, demir-çelik, kireç, seramik, şeker, cam ve petrokimya sektörleri ele alınmıştır. Söz konusu sektörlerde teknolojik durumun ortaya konulması ve sera gazı azaltım potansiyelinin belirlenmesi amacıyla toplantılar, görüşmeler ve saha incelemeleri yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler ışığında bahse konu sektörler için teknoloji ihtiyacı değerlendirilmiş ve teknoloji değişikliği bazında sera gazı emisyon azaltım potansiyeli belirlenmiştir.

On 15, 16, 17 April 2014, sectoral workshops were held at Sürmeli Hotel Ankara, where the works carried out throughout the project were presented and the opinions of the relevant public institutions and organizations and sector representatives were received. The opening speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kitiş, Director of the Institute of Environment and Cleaner Production on behalf of our Agency and Mithat Kaya, Head of the Department of Environment, Energy and Employment on behalf of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. More than 200 people attended the workshops. During the workshop, the project findings were evaluated together with the participants and the final version was determined.
