The RHE-MEDiation (Responsive Hub for Long Term GovernancE to Destress the MEDiterranean Sea from Chemical Pollution) project, which was submitted in September 2022 to the European Union Horizon Europe (HE) call for projects with the number HORIZON-MISS-2022-OCEAN-01-03, was awarded 14.5 points out of 15 points as a result of the peer review. It received the highest peer review score among the projects submitted to the same call.
The project, in which we will take part as TÜBİTAK MAM Climate Change and Sustainability Vice Presidency Water Management and Treatment Technologies Research Group and Marine Research and Technologies Research Group, will be coordinated by the Italian RINA CONSULTING, while 11 institutions from four different countries (Italy, Portugal, Greece, Belgium) will cooperate with TÜBİTAK MAM.
Projede, denizlere ulaşan kimyasallardan (ağır metaller, kalıcı organik kirleticiler, bitki koruma ürünleri (pestisitler, biyositler)) kaynaklanan kirliliği azaltmak ve iyileştirmek için yenilikçi, tekrarlanabilir çözümler sunarak denizlere ulaşan kirliliğin en az %50 oranında azaltılması hedefleniyor.
The RHE-MEDiation Project aims to establish a responsive center implementing long-term governance to prevent chemical pollution reaching the Mediterranean Sea in line with the call objective. In the project, 3 pilot applications will be carried out in Italy, Greece and Turkey to prevent chemical pollution reaching the sea. There are 8 different work packages within the scope of the 3-year project.
More detailed information about the project will be available in the future on the EU CORDIS page (http://cordis.europa.eu) can be reached.
