"Equivalent Parts Certification Cooperation Agreement" was signed between TÜBİTAK MAM and OSEM in order to promote "Original Equivalent Spare Parts Application" which will create significant cost advantage in the insurance sector.
The cooperation agreement that will establish the technical infrastructure for the use of equivalent parts, the foundations of which were laid with the work initiated by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology in 2015 to support the "Automotive Supply Industry" and published as a communiqué by the Undersecretariat of Treasury, was signed between TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center and OSEM Certification Inc.

Prof. Dr. Murat Makaracı, OSEM Operations Director Ekrem Çankırlı, TÜBİTAK MAM Unit Managers Meral Özcan, Nuh Yılmaz and Seçil Selçuk attended the signing ceremony held at TÜBİTAK MAM on 29 September 2017.
With the agreement, the main technical tests for the certification to be carried out by OSEM for the parts of the automobile called "Body Group Parts", which are subject to the most insurance damages, will be carried out using the TÜBİTAK MAM infrastructure. The "Equivalent Part Application", which is widely used in almost all European countries, allows consumers to buy an equivalent part with the same features at a more affordable price instead of the original part, thus contributing to lower insurance costs.
Paving the Way for Certified Domestic Spare Parts Production
İmza töreninde konuşan OSEM Yönetim Kurulu Üyesi Atilla Oksay: “Orijinal olarak tabir edilen yedek parça ile sertifikalı orijinale eşdeğer yedek parça arasında ortalama %60 fiyat farkı var. Bazı parçalarda bu farkın yaklaşık 4 katına kadar çıkabildiğini görüyoruz. Yerli üreticilerimiz bu parçaların pek çoğunun üretimini hali hazırda gerçekleştiriyor ancak sertifikasyon yapılamadığı için arzu edilen üretim adetlerine ulaşılamıyor. Eşdeğer parçaların, orijinal parça gibi bir takım testlerden geçirilerek, testlerde orijinal parçanın verdiği sonuçları verip vermediğinin ölçülmesi ve belgelendirilmesi, aynı uluslararası uygulamalarda olduğu gibi sektörün bu anlamda önünü açacaktır.” dedi.
Our Comprehensive Test Infrastructure at the Service of the Industry
TÜBİTAK MAM President Dr. Orkun Hasekioğlu made a speech at the ceremony: "The manufacturers that dominate the world trade manage the sector by dominating the fields of standardization and certification, and in such an environment, 'Equivalent Parts Certification' is extremely important in order to support domestic production and reduce costs in the market." Emphasizing that TÜBİTAK MAM has sufficient infrastructure and human resources, especially in the testing and analysis of "Body Group Parts", Dr. Hasekioğlu wished the agreement to be beneficial for our country.
