US Deputy Consul General in Istanbul Fleur Cowan, US Ankara Embassy Deputy Head of Economic Affairs Benjamin Embury and US Ankara Embassy Second Secretary Michael Culver visited TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus to discuss possible cooperation opportunities with US public and private sector institutions/organizations operating in the field of science and technology.
The meeting held at the TÜBİTAK MAM Conference Hall was attended by US Deputy Consul General in Istanbul, Fleur Cowan, and her accompanying delegation, along with TÜBİTAK Vice President Dr. İsmail Doğan, TÜBİTAK MAM President Prof. Burcu Özsoy, Head Secretary Hüseyin Özen from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, Vice President of Engineering Applications at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Celal Mızrak, Director of Sales and Marketing at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Ahmet Serdar Yücel, Chief Expert in Scientific Programs at TÜBİTAK UİDB K. Melike Ergün, and Chief Expert from TÜBİTAK MAM Strategy and Business Development Directorate, Yusuf Kılıç.
At the meeting, TÜBİTAK Vice President Dr. İsmail Doğan made a presentation on "Collaboration Based on Co-Creation for Stronger R&D and Innovation Ecosystems". In his presentation, he gave information about TÜBİTAK's place in R&D and innovation ecosystem, the research areas of TÜBİTAK Centers and Institutes, and TÜBİTAK's global perspective on international scientific and technological cooperation.
During the presentation by TÜBİTAK Vice President Dr. İsmail Doğan, it was emphasized that R&D and innovation are the cornerstones of a strong ecosystem. TÜBİTAK stands out by playing an important role in this field with its efforts to support and develop innovative projects. Drawing attention to the wide working areas of TÜBİTAK Centers and Institutes, Dr. Doğan stated that these units have the potential to create added value with their expertise in various disciplines. He also presented a comprehensive perspective on how TÜBİTAK's international scientific and technological collaborations support knowledge sharing and acceleration of innovation on a global scale. He stated that collaborations strengthen not only scientific studies but also international relations. Dr. Ismail Doğan concluded his presentation by emphasizing that collaboration based on co-creation will play a critical role in establishing stronger and more sustainable R&D and innovation ecosystems.
Chief Expert Yusuf Kılıç from TÜBİTAK MAM Strategy and Business Development Directorate made a presentation on the infrastructures, activities, products, ongoing international projects of TÜBİTAK MAM and potential areas of cooperation.
The presentation emphasized TÜBİTAK MAM's impressive infrastructure and extensive range of activities. Kılıç provided participants with a detailed presentation of TÜBİTAK MAM's scientific and technological capabilities, laboratory infrastructure and research opportunities. He also highlighted TÜBİTAK MAM's role in developing innovative products in the industry by providing information about its product portfolio. Another significant focus of the presentation was TÜBİTAK MAM's international projects and collaboration opportunities. He concluded his presentation by giving information about potential areas for collaboration.
Finally, Ahmet Serdar Yücel, the Sales and Marketing Director of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, delivered a presentation on TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Institutes, their fields of operation, digital technologies, robotic technologies and cybersecurity technology capabilities. During his presentation, Ahmet Serdar Yücel focused on the extensive and diversified fields of operation of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Institutes. Yücel provided participants with a detailed explanation of the role of digital technologies in the rapidly changing world and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM's expertise in this field. He also emphasized the significance of robotic technologies in various sectors of industry and life, sharing TÜBİTAK BİLGEM's capabilities in the field of robotics. Another highlight of the presentation was the critical role of cybersecurity technologies in today's world. Ahmet Serdar Yücel provided a detailed explanation of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM's expertise in the field of cybersecurity and its efforts to create a secure digital world. He concluded the presentation by sharing TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Institutes' vision regarding sectoral collaborations with the participants.
After the cooperation meeting and presentations, the delegation visited Turkish Food Innovation Platform (TÜGİP) Food Innovation Center and Medical Biotechnology Center of Excellence. The personnel in charge provided the US delegation with detailed information about the products and studies of the laboratories.
