TÜBİTAK MAM, MSB and HAVELSAN PUT SIGNATURES for CBRN DEFENSE COOPERATION

Ministry of National Defense (MSB) Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense Department, TÜBİTAK MAM and HAVELSAN INC. signed a protocol on "Integration of Chemical and Biological National Defense Products into the CBRN Information System" at the 16th International Defense Industry Fair IDEF-23.

Domestic and national technologies developed in line with Turkiye's fully independent defense industry goal are going on display. As part of a strategic project carried out by TÜBİTAK MAM since 2017 in line with the needs of the Ministry of National Defense, various national defense products are being developed against biological and chemical agents.

In the project, for the detection and diagnosis, which is one of the critical components of CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) defense, a "Detection and Diagnosis System for Chemical Warfare Agents in Drinking Water" will be developed as a final product. Additionally, sensors, rapid tests and diagnostic kits for the detection of biological agents from environmental samples (air, soil, water, etc.) will also be produced.

Through the cooperation protocol among the Ministry of National Defense, HAVELSAN Inc., and TÜBİTAK MAM, studies will be conducted to integrate the diagnostic and detection systems, which are currently under development, into the HAVELSAN CBRN Mentor Information Management System; which automates the entire process from pre-CBRN incidence preparation step to post-incidence intervention and improvement activities, offers real-time integration and monitoring capabilities with detection and diagnosis systems that can operate both independently and in tandem, and gives reports and alerts. Following the integration of the diagnostic and detection systems into the Information Management System, the Ministry of National Defense will expand the integrated system to relevant institutions and organizations, primarily focusing on critical facilities.

The signed protocol aims to minimize loss of life and property against CBRN threats and dangers, and to implement end-to-end solutions that will address the needs of all military and civilian elements involved in CBRN defense under the same umbrella.
