TÜBİTAK MAM at IDEF

TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) took part in the 15th International Defense Industry Fair held in TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center on 17-20 August 2021 (IDEF’21).

IDEF’21, held under the auspices of the Turkish State President and hosted by the Ministry of National Defense and under the management and responsibility of Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, was opened with the remarks of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Minister of National Defense Mr. Hulusi Akar, the President of Defense Industries Prof. İsmail Demir and the Deputy Director General of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation Mr. Sadık Piyade.   

IDEF’21 brought together 1.238 companies. 169 delegations, 613 delegation members and 28 ministers from 83 countries attended in the fair. 

Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank at TÜBİTAK MAM Booth 

The Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank visited the booth of TÜBİTAK MAM on the last day of IDEF 2021. Minister Varank closely examined the products displayed and got information from the officials.  

Reminding that Terahertz (THz) Realtime Passenger Imaging System is also a project developed by TÜBİTAK, Minister Varank said “This is a system that detects passengers carrying foreign objects. It was developed firstly by TÜBİTAK MAM. Then, we established cooperation with ASELSAN for mass production.” Varank added “As the Ministry of Industry and Technology, we encourage such works in our organizations like TÜBİTAK. We try to develop products requiring advanced technologies and commercialize them by allowing mass production in Turkish companies. Terahertz system is one of the best examples of such products.” 

“Now, Turkey is a Country Designing, Developing and Producing Technology”

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Hasan Mandal stated that TÜBİTAK takes part in IDEF’21 strongly with its institutes SAGE, BİLGEM, MAM and UZAY. 

Underlining the rapid development of Turkey in recent years in defense industries, Prof. Mandal said “The rate of national production in defense industries has increased from 20 percent to 80 percent.   The self-confidence and responsibility gained from this development make us strong in other areas as well. Turkey now is a self-sufficient country in defense industries, becoming a leader both in its region and globally. Apart from being a country just making use of technology or producing it by transferring, Turkey is now a country that designs, develops and produces technology.” 

TÜBİTAK MAM Exhibited Its High-Tech Products

Among the products exhibited by TÜBİTAK MAM, Chemical Warfare Agents Detection Device (MAM-CDET), Chemical Warfare Agents and Toxic Industrial Chemicals Detection Device (ZEM-CDET), Chemical Warfare Agents Detection System For Drinking Water, Anti-Submarine Warfare Sonar Transducer Element (TBT-01), Mine-Hunting Sonar Transducer Element (TBT-RX-420), High Temperature Materials for Space and Aviation Industries, Thru-Wall Radar Imaging System, Single Crystal Turbine Blade, Floating Decoy and Launcher System (MAM-TFDLS), Sealing Glass, Space-qualified Solar Panel, MİLGES, Photovoltaic Micro Inverter, Fuel Cell Charging System, Hydrogen Burning Catalyst, Cartridge, Thermal Interface Materials attracted the attention of visitors.
