TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) took part in the 1st Smart Cities and Municipalities Congress and Exhibition held at ATO Congresium in Ankara under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Turkiye on 15-16 January 2020.
During the congress hosting participants from 41 countries and being made up of 3 main sessions, 12 panels and 6 seminars; the opening speeches were made by the President of Turkiye Mr. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, the Minister of Industry and Technology Mr. Mustafa VARANK, the Minister of Environment and Urbanization Mr. Murat KURUM and the Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Ms. Fatma ŞAHİN.
The President ERDOĞAN stated in his speech that “It is of critical importance for all smart solution applications to be compatible with each other regardless of they are realized by municipalities, other organizations or private sector.”
During the event that contributed to the creation of cooperation and interaction among smart city technology producers, solution providers and service providers so as to establish an effective smart city ecosystem, the visitors showed a great interest to the booth of TÜBİTAK MAM. TÜBİTAK MAM booth exhibited many products developed by TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center such as Fuel Cell Modules and Components, Lithium Ion Battery Samples, Trigen Project Fuels and Other Products, Noise Maps and Noise Barriers, Dissolved Oxygen Sensor, National Flue Gas Analyzer (YEBA), Zero-Waste Approach in Treatment Sludge Management, Cavitation System, Smart City Sustainability Model, Environmental Label for Accommodation Facilities, Photovoltaic Solar Panel and Terahertz Imaging System.
During the event, the 28th Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkiye Mr. Binali YILDIRIM, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mr. Mehmet Fatih KACIR, the 26th Term Turkish Parliament Member and Former Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Mr. Taner YILDIZ and the President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Hasan MANDAL visited the booth of TÜBİTAK MAM.
As a part of the event program, the President of TÜBİTAK MAM Prof. Hasan MANDAL and the President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey Ms. Fatma ŞAHİN signed a “Cooperation Protocol on Maturity Assessment”.
