The world’s largest Aviation, Space and Technology Festival “TEKNOFEST 2020” was held from 24 to 27 September 2020 in Gaziantep.
The Aviation, Space and Technology Festival was held by the Ministry of Industry and Technology attracting a great participation despite the pandemic; and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) took part in it with a Biotechnology Innovation Contest.
The contest hosted participants from high schools and universities spending great effort in competition and making 15-minute presentations in Project and Idea categories.
Jury members examined and evaluated the prototypes of the teams after their presentations.
TÜBİTAK MAM Biotechnology Innovation Contest Area was visited by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mr. Mustafa VARANK, the Minister of Interior Mr. Süleyman SOYLU and TÜBİTAK President Prof. Hasan MANDAL.
During their visits, the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa VARANK, the Minister of Interior Süleyman SOYLU and TÜBİTAK President Prof. Hasan MANDAL met with the contesting teams and got information on their projects.
The first, second and third rank achievement certificates in Project and Idea categories in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biomedical and Food Engineering were awarded to students by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Hasan MANDAL, TÜBİTAK Board Member Prof. Metin ORHAN, TÜBİTAK Vice President Prof. Ahmet YOZGATLIGİL, TÜBİTAK MAM President Dr. Osman OKUR and TÜBİTAK MAM Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute Director Prof. Şaban TEKİN.
One each team from the Project and Idea categories making the best presentation was awarded a plaquette.
The first rank teams in the Project and Idea categories were awarded by the Minister of Interior Mr. Süleyman SOYLU, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Hasan MANDAL and the President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and the Metropolitan Gaziantep Mayor Ms. Fatma ŞAHİN.
The second and third rank teams were awarded by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Hasan MANDAL, TÜBİTAK MAM President Dr. Osman OKUR, the President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and the Metropolitan Gaziantep Mayor Ms. Fatma ŞAHİN and T3 Foundation Chairman Mr. Selçuk BAYRAKTAR.
TEKNOFEST hosted President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN on 26 September 2020. ERDOĞAN addressed the youth and said “Turkey needs young talents that design, produce, develop and obtain concrete results in order to reach its goals. Turkey needs you, your efforts, energy and vision.”
The Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa VARANK in his opening speech at the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival “TEKNOFEST 2020” expressed that the Ministry of Industry and Technology designs and applies its all policies in line with the National Technology Move vision, and added “We work hard to develop the critical technologies of the future and to create competitive products in high-tech fields, which is the sole way of achieving economical and technological independency.”
