GALLIPOLI HISTORICAL UNDERWATER PARK OPENED TO DIVING TOURISM

The works within the scope of the Project on “Opening H.M.S. Majestic Wreck to Diving Tourism” whose marine research studies were conducted by TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute (ÇTÜE) have come to end.

As the works within the scope of the Project on “Opening H.M.S. Majestic Wreck to Diving Tourism” whose marine research studies were conducted by TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute (ÇTÜE) have come to an end; the warships that sank in the Historical Gallipoli Peninsula 106 year ago have been opened to tourism as “Gallipoli Historical Underwater Park”. The warships in the depths of the Historical Gallipoli Peninsula have been opened to diving tourism as the Gallipoli Historical Underwater Park.

The war wrecks of Çanakkale, which shelter many stories in their depths, will be the first World War-I themed underwater park.  Diving enthusiasts will discover the mystery of 14 sunken ships, including the British Royal Navy's HMS Majestic, which was sunk 106 years ago off the Seddülbahir Castle. Gallipoli Historical Underwater Park with 14 diving points in an area of 150 square kilometers is composed of HMS Majestic, Ertuğrul Bay Massena and Saghalien shipwrecks, Helles Barges, Tekke Bay (W Beach) wrecks, Arıburnu Barge, Küçükkemikli Barges, Arıburnu Layter, Lundy, HMS Louis, SS Milo, Tuzla, Submarine Mania Net, Bebek Reefs and HMS Triumph.

For the Gallipoli Historical Underwater Park, which brings together the Aegean and Marmara Seas and attracts the attention of the whole world with its underwater treasures, a grand opening and promotion event was held at Seddülbahir Castle.
