A delegation, headed by the Principal Secretary of Kenya State Department for University Education and Research and Ambassador H.E. Simon NABUKWESI and composed of the Maseno University Rector Prof. Juluis NYABUNDI, the Chuka University Rector Prof. Erastus NJOKA, the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Science and Technology University Rector Prof. Stephen AGONG and Kenya Deputy Minister of Education Mr. Shiroya LUKES, visited TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) on 12 August 2021.
Kenyan Ambassador H.E. Simon NABUKWESI and the accompanying delegation were welcomed by TÜBİTAK MAM Vice President Prof. Burcu ÖZSOY and they came together at lunch with TÜBİTAK MAM Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute Director Prof. Şaban TEKİN, TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Haldun KARAN and TÜBİTAK MAM Food Institute Deputy Director Ms. Sena SAKLAR AYYILDIZ.
TÜBİTAK MAM Vice President Prof. Burcu ÖZSOY briefed the Kenyan delegation on the world class infrastructure and products of TÜBİTAK MAM and highlighted the importance of possible fields of study. It was stated that TÜBİTAK MAM is open to cooperation.
Then the delegation visited the Biodegradable Waste Recovery Laboratory and Water Safety and Dissolved Oxygen Laboratory under TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, the Plant Molecular Biology and Genetics Laboratory under TÜBİTAK MAM Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute, and the Pilot Food Plant under TÜBİTAK MAM Food Institute, and got on-site information on the studies, products and infrastructures of the Institutes.
