Hundreds of students at the high school, university and graduate level formed their teams in the idea and project categories and shared the excitement of the competition.
In the Biotechnology Innovation Competition, in addition to the top competitors, two teams were given TÜBİTAK MAM Special Jury Award. With the TÜBİTAK MAM Special Jury Award, the students had the opportunity to examine the works and infrastructures of MAM on-site in a one-week period.
GIFACUP team, founded by Bursa Technical University students, closely examined the infrastructures and reaction experiments on cellulose production, Polymer Group infrastructures and trial experiments, 3D infrastructures and trial experiments, Medical Biotechnology Group and Food Innovation Technologies Group for 1 week.
Expressing her views on the visit, the team captain İrem AYBEYAZ said, "When we came here, we had the opportunity to visit everywhere. The first two days we were in the Chemistry department, then we went to the Materials and Food department. We have witnessed all the work done here, in this way, we have enlarged our vision. The experts did not refrain us from anything here; we are very happy about that. We got detailed information about all projects. We then had the opportunity to get to know all the devices used. The devices were described in detail. Of course, these were also taught to us as lessons at school, but they remain theoretical. We have learned the working mechanism of all of them here. We thought about how we could integrate them into our project. This one-week period has been very beneficial both for our project and for our personal development. One week may look very short; but we had a quite full week, so it was very productive. We took all the training that could fit into a month just in a week.”
The contestants thanked Mr. Hasan MANDAL, President of TÜBITAK, and Mr. Ahmet YOZGATLIGIL, Vice President of TÜBITAK and President of TÜBITAK MAM, for the award given.
