As part of the project "Assessment of Phycotoxins and Their Production Species in the Black Sea - PHYCOB", supported by the European Union H2020 under the research and innovation program and partnered by TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, R/V TÜBİTAK MARMARA Research Vessel conducts oceanographic sea expedition between 11 and 20 September 2021 in the Romanian and Bulgarian waters of the Black Sea.
During the study, sea water and sediment samples are collected to detect the toxins produced by some phytoplankton in the ecosystem and the species that cause these toxins. Thanks to the laboratory infrastructure of the ship, simultaneously with sampling, physicochemical parameters, nutritional elements and chlorophyll values are measured, and pre-treatment is realized for vitamin, pigment and DNA studies.
This project has received funding from the EU H2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No 824077
