Palestinian Ambassador Mr. Fead Mustafa Zohdia, the President of Higher Council for Innovation and Excellence (HCIE) and Advisor to the President of Palestine Mr. Adnan Samara and the Board Member of HCIE Mr. Ayman Sbaih visited TÜBİTAK MAM in company with TÜBİTAK presidency officials in order to examine the infrastructure of TÜBİTAK MAM, to discuss potential cooperation opportunities and to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on 14-15 January 2016.
The Palestinian delegation was received by Assoc. Prof. Murat Makaracı, Vice President of TÜBİTAK MAM, on 14 January 2016. The parties expressed the importance of relations between the two countries and emphasized the necessity of joint R&D capabilities. In line with the Palestinian State’s needs, the parties discussed on water, energy, food and the development of turn-key projects, industrial test and analysis services and incubation companies. In the meeting with broad participation on the January 15th, the visiting delegation was briefed on the R&D activities of TÜBİTAK MAM. In line with the delegation members’ fields of interest, the delegation was informed on the working fields of TÜBİTAK MAM’s institutes through detailed presentations by the officials of Environment and Cleaner Production Institute (ÇTÜE), Energy Institute (EE), Food Institute (GE), Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute (GMBE) and Earth and Marine Sciences Institute (YDBE). The delegation paid on-site visits to the ÇTÜE, EE and GE laboratories and examined their activities.
At the end of the visits, the President of TÜBİTAK Prof. A. Arif Ergin and the President of HCIE Mr. Adnan Samara signed a Memorandum of Understanding between TÜBİTAK and HCIE. The signing ceremony was held in presence of TÜBİTAK Vice President Dr. Orkun Hasekioğlu, MAM President Assoc. Prof. Bahadır Tunaboylu and TÜBİTAK International Cooperation Department Bilateral and Multilateral Relations Director Dr. Zeynep Büyükboduk. TÜBİTAK and the Palestinian science institution are determined to keep cooperating in order to develop joint R&D activities.
