Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) Health Sector Board and YOUNG MÜSİAD visited TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) on 13 December 2021.
During the visit, a meeting was held between TÜBİTAK MAM, MÜSİAD Health Sector Board and YOUNG MÜSİAD. The meeting on cooperation opportunities was attended by TÜBİTAK MAM President Prof. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, MÜSİAD Heath Sector Board Chairman Hüseyin Sarpkaya, Gebze Young MÜSİAD President Muhammed Faruk Özmen, MAM President Advisor Gökhan Yetkin, Food Institute Director Assoc. Prof. Cesarettin Alaşalvar, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Abdullah Karadağ, Institute of Chemical Technology Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Şerife Sarıoğlan, Materials Institute Deputy Director Dr. Alper Biber, MÜSİAD Managers, Board Members and YOUNG MÜSİAD Board Members.

In the opening remarks, TÜBİTAK MAM President Prof. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil said “Heath Sector is one of the most important sectors among the working areas of TÜBİTAK MAM. TÜBİTAK MAM is really active, especially in terms of drug development, biomaterials, biomedical devices, their testing and certification, establishing and operating infrastructures that are scarce in Turkey, but one of our primary sine qua non is our industry partners.”
“We are willing to work together on testing, analysis and R&D needs.”
Stating that TÜBİTAK MAM carries out important R&D studies with important public institutions, TÜBİTAK MAM President Yozgatlıgil added that TÜBİTAK MAM aspires to work together on testing, analysis and R&D needs that will increase the competitiveness of its industrial partners.
MÜSİAD Health Sector Board Chairman Hüseyin Sarpkaya said “As MÜSİAD, we represent 650 companies in Turkish health sector. In this sector, we have a multi-disciplinary structure. During the pandemic in the last 2 years, we have experienced quite distinctive times. Health data that used to be produced in hospitals is now produced outside hospitals. This means that we need new technological developments. For this, we need innovation. TÜBİTAK is a milestone, a starting point for us.”
In the course of the meeting, presentations were made on the infrastructures, working areas and fields of potential cooperation with MÜSİAD by the Directors and Deputy Directors of TÜBİTAK MAM Food Institute (GE), Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute (GMBE), Institute of Chemical Technology (KTE) and Materials Institute (ME).
After the meeting, plaques were exchanged between TÜBİTAK MAM President Prof. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, MÜSİAD Health Sector Board Chairman Hüseyin Sarpkaya and Gebze Young MÜSİAD President Muhammed Faruk ÖZMEN.
MÜSİAD delegation visited Materials Institute Biomaterials, Bioelectronics and Biomechanics Center of Excellence, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute Diagnostic Technologies, Immunogenetics and Vaccine Technologies Laboratories. The delegation was given on-site information about the studies by competent personnel.
