As part of the Project “Rare Earth Element (REE) Recovery by Bioleaching”, a meeting was held with the participation of representatives from TÜBİTAK MAM Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute (GMBE), SAHA İSTANBUL, General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA), Ankara University, Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University and private sector.
During the meeting on REEs, which have a critical importance for many industries like defense, healthcare, clean energy, electronics, transportation and petroleum refining, participants exchanged views on the target areas, methods and processes to be followed as part of the project studies. One of the work sites of MTA General Directorate was chosen as the project work site. Samples will be collected from various parts of this mine site that features significantly complex mineralization properties.
This pilot study will reveal whether mineralization in the site is really enriched with bioleaching, or not.
