The President of Demirpolat Companies Group Mr. Nurettin DEMİRPOLAT, the Company Partner Mr. Mustafa KABAKÇI and an accompanying delegation visited the President of TÜBİTAK MAM Prof. İbrahim KILIÇASLAN.
The meeting was also attended by the officials of TÜBİTAK MAM Food Institute. The Demirpolat Group officials thanked for the “resistant starch” product for which they recently got the license and started production. The President of TÜBİTAK MAM Prof. İbrahim KILIÇASLAN expressed his pleasure with the contribution to public health through the product developed by the Food Institute.
Demirpolat Companies Group, which produces cereals in Konya, has opened Turkey’s first enzyme-resistant starch plant in Konya, with the license it received from TÜBİTAK. Within the scope of the partnership with TÜBİTAK MAM, the plant produces 100% pure resistant starch. The starch product, which cannot be digested in small intestine but can be fermented in large intestine, resembles dietary fibers in terms of health effects. In addition to having prebiotic properties, the product affects bowel health positively owing to its contribution in the production of butyrate and other short-chain fatty acids. The products containing resistant starch with 50% lower energy than regular starch give a feeling of satiety and thereby control the appetite and help balance the blood sugar. Resistant starch products can be consumed not only by diabetics or dieters but also by all consumers.
In the meeting, the parties exchanged ideas on the possibilities of cooperation in other products developed by TÜBİTAK MAM Food Institute as part of the studies for the development of national additives.
