TÜBİTAK MAM Material Technologies Vice Presidency Photovoltaic Technologies Research Team will realize the design, development, testing and production of Space Qualified Solar Panels that meet the high reliability requirements of the Spacecraft being designed for the "Moon Research Program-1" within the National Space Program of Turkish Space Agency (TUA).
The fixed solar panels to be produced will be located on both the +X and -X surfaces of the vehicle. So one of these panels will be able to generate power continuously.
With the space-qualified solar panels to be developed with this project, a history will be made in deep space and more and more detailed information will be provided about the system in the orbit, with the provision of telemetry throughout the mission life.
Since deployment in lunar orbit poses challenging environmental conditions in comparison to GEO and LEO, making a history and achieving telemetry functionality in lunar orbit with the space-qualified solar panels to be developed by TÜBİTAK MAM will allow
- Achieving a higher reliability on a national and international scale (in comparison to GEO and LEO),
- Reducing time and cost in projects, owing to testing in real environment,
- Competitiveness, with the developed equipment/systems on the international platform, minimization of foreign dependency, and added value in scientific, economic and human resources terms.
With the know-how and experience to be gained, we will be proud to take part in the AYAP-2 program satellite and landing vehicle projects, with our space-qualified solar panels, which will be developed with domestic and national resources.
