On November 21, 2022, TÜBİTAK-SAS (Slovak Academy of Sciences) Workshop was held in Gebze Campus, by TÜBİTAK International Cooperation Department and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM).
In addition to SAS officials and researchers, managers and researchers from TÜBİTAK, TÜBİTAK MAM, TÜBİTAK UME and TÜBİTAK RUTE participated in the workshop.
The event started with the opening speech and presentation of TÜBİTAK Vice President and TÜBİTAK MAM President Prof. Ahmet YOZGATLIGİL, which was followed by the opening speech of Slovak Academy of Sciences Vice President Dr. Zuzana Panczová.
The Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Istanbul V. Michal Lánik delivered an opening speech. Then, Zuzana Panisová from the Department of International Cooperation of the Slovak Academy of Sciences gave information about the structure and activities of SAS.
After the opening speeches and presentations, project ideas to enhance the academic cooperation between Türkiye and Slovakia were discussed and presentations were made in 3 different thematic sessions. During the thematic sessions, the researchers made suggestions for areas where joint cooperation and projects could be developed to benefit from the TÜBİTAK - SAS Joint Project Call, which is expected to be opened in 2023.
Also, TÜBİTAK Vice President and MAM President Prof. Ahmet YOZGATLIGİL and Slovak Academy of Sciences Vice President Dr. Zuzana Panczová signed a “Statement of Intent” for the continuation and development of cooperation activities. After the signing ceremony, the workshop was completed with closing remarks.
