In the project, detailed models of the protection infrastructure that ensures the protection of the electricity transmission system against failures and unforeseen situations are created in an analyzable manner, continuous analysis is carried out, and a sustainable protection inventory is created. With the information system infrastructure and algorithms developed in this context, technical support is provided to network operators for the most accurate protection coordination by performing periodic analyzes of the transmission network protection system.
In the project, software, technical support, analysis and consultancy services are provided on issues that are important for the quality, continuous, reliable and economical operation of the electricity transmission system and that are needed by the Load Despatch Company. In this context, efforts are underway to create decision support software for grid monitoring and management (PV solar generation forecast, condition forecast, optimal maintenance planning for generation and transmission infrastructures, etc.) and to provide energy management infrastructure to the transmission system operator domestically.
Within the scope of the project, renewable energy targets and financial impacts of renewable integration within the 10-year planning horizon of the client organization were presented from a unified grid and energy market perspective. Thus, forecasts were provided for other actors in the field of electric energy (MENR, EMRA, EMRA, etc.) and investment requirements for intermittent renewable generation capacities and flexibility were determined with a focus on optimum cost and secure grid operation.
In addition, an updated transmission system dynamic model was built in line with the increasing renewable integration, ensuring safe and stable operation of the grid.
Ongoing Projects
The aim of the project is to examine the current crossing/sectioning/termination configurations of the underground cables in the operation and installation phase of the client organization and to analyze them under fault and operating conditions and to prepare the technical specifications and work flow procedures to be used for the installation.
In addition, analysis and reporting tools will be developed to be used by the relevant customer institution personnel in the processes to be defined and presented on a web-based platform. In addition, high-level analysis and training requests will be responded to in line with the needs of the customer organization during the project period.
Thanks to the technical documents and analysis tools developed, the level of knowledge of our country's organizations on this subject will be increased, as well as the safer operation of infrastructures that are critical for our country, such as the electricity grid.
As a participant in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Turkey has recently declared its intention to reach the zero carbon target by 2053. One of the most important elements in achieving this goal is to increase the share of clean energy generation (transition from fossil resources to renewable energy). At this point, the establishment of forecasting and monitoring systems to increase the share of renewable energy generation in the grid is seen as one of the important KM stones. The solar generation forecasting system, which is aimed to be developed within the scope of this project, is one of the critical infrastructures for achieving the carbon and renewable targets of our country.
This project covers services for forecasting the generation of photovoltaic based solar power plants, which is important for the predictable and safe operation of the electricity transmission system. In the project, PV generation forecasts will be realized in a period of 6 hours - 3 days using physical and artificial intelligence based statistical models.
The project will also develop new interfaces for data exchange between Transmission and Distribution. In this way, the production information embedded in the distribution will be collected.
In order to mitigate the increasing impacts of the climate crisis and global warming, Turkey has joined the European Green Deal, aiming a comprehensive transformation in the energy sector and to direct the resources used in energy production to clean and sustainable energy. The Transmission Planning Technical Consultancy Project has been established to realize the renewable planning of the grid and to create a roadmap in order to provide electricity generation from sustainable and green sources in the next 10-20 years in line with the aforementioned targets of our country. Within the scope of the project, studies will be carried out on the creation of a renewable integration roadmap for the Turkish electricity grid, determination of storage integration requirements, grid integration of electric vehicles, integration of new grid technologies and determination of technical requirements. Considering the titles summarizing the energy transformation, these titles, which include R&D and application, will contribute to our country's green transformation, achieving zero carbon targets and preparing our country's electricity grid for the future.
This project covers R&D-based activities on the realization of technical consultancy works based on analyses, development of auxiliary tools for system operation, and meeting the requirements in terms of legislation in order for TEİAŞ to operate the electricity transmission system in a predictable, economic and safe manner.
Within the scope of the study, it is aimed to develop artificial intelligence-supported and optimization-based decision support algorithms for the economic and stable operation of the electricity system, as well as the modeling of new network tools that will occur at the point of transformation of the electricity grid. The software to be developed will enable grid operators to make rapid evaluations and decisions about the instantaneous electricity grid situation in accordance with the aim of transforming increasing data into value with the effect of digitalization in energy. This project, which includes R&D and product development on the main theme of digitalization in electricity, is expected to benefit all electricity market players in terms of predictability and economic operation.
