TEKIS Project
Project Summary
TEIAS Electricity Power Quality and Grid Monitoring System (TEKIS) Project
Objective
TEİAŞ Electricity Power Quality and Grid Monitoring System (TEKİS) is a modular and expandable system developed by TÜBİTAK MAM for TEİAŞ, using modern software technologies together with artificial intelligence technologies and big data analytics. With TEKİS Project, it is aimed to automatically collect and store the data of the electricity grid including transmission and distribution main feeders, to monitor the entire grid in a holistic structure using up-to-date software technologies, to analyze the data with various methods including artificial intelligence methods, and to automatically generate the necessary reports by this system.
Scope
TEKİS was designed and developed as a large-scale system that can monitor the entire electricity grid, including transmission and distribution main feeders, in a holistic structure, store all relevant data and automatically generate the necessary reports.
Importance
- Power and power quality parameters and phasor data from the Turkish Electricity Transmission System are collected simultaneously, differently and with high resolution.
- In case of detection of power quality events, raw data of the events can also be stored.
- Detected events and alarms and load flow can be monitored map-based.
- Data can be monitored in real-time as synchronous graphs.
- Data can be queried retrospectively and automatic reports can be generated.
- With the event classification capability using artificial intelligence technologies, the causes of power quality events can be determined automatically.
- With the ability to identify the direction of voltage troughs, it is possible to automatically determine whether these events are caused by the transmission network or the transmission system user.
- Voltage pit and outage indices can be calculated automatically.
- The distance of detected events can be calculated automatically.
- In addition to voltage events, power quality events can also be detected on current and power.
Stages
- The TEKIS Project started in 2021 and is a 54-month (4.5-year) project.
- The analysis, design, development, testing and training process of the system was completed within the first 42 months (3.5 years) as planned, and the project entered the one-year warranty period.
- The planned completion date of the project is 14.10.2025.
Project Output
TEKIS Technology
Scope
The main output of the project is an extensible and scalable TEKİS system that incorporates many different modules. The system is used by the relevant units of the client organization.
Methods and Technologies
- Modern software technologies were used in the realization of the user interfaces of the system.
- Appropriate graphics libraries were used to quickly present large data to users.
- Within the scope of the event classification module of the system, machine learning methods were used, which showed high performance in the tests performed.
Application Areas
With the TEKİS system developed, effective and widespread monitoring of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Network has become possible. TEKİS helps the management of the grid by automating the collection of high-resolution data from the grid, detection, monitoring, analysis and reporting of power quality events and other problems occurring in the grid, and enables forward-looking plans and projections related to the grid.
